At Leafy Fields Glamping we provide family friendly holidays.

We are a small, family business, that is passionate about diversity and inclusion. Our own family is Neuro-diverse.

What we can offer

By adding our sunflower pack to your booking you will receive:

An email pre-arrival social story about your accommodation and a holiday count down calendar.
on arrival, a pack of information about places to visit during your stay. (also emailed in advance)
an allocated day to use the sunflower room (our sensory play room).
a sunflower lanyard for hidden disabilities
a social story about the animals you can meet on our site.

We have guest WiFi on our glamping field

Our front gates are kept locked (you are issued a key on arrival)

We don't guarantee that a determined escapee could not get off site, but our fencing and high hedging does aid to slow wonderers/runners, giving parents a chance to catch up.

During your stay you will discover lots of little extras that we have discovered are helpful over the years - such as our robust furniture and special shower heard. The safari lodges also have cubby play areas to give a calming play space when needed.

We appreciate that hidden disabilities are different for each individual and we recognise that we are not the right place for everyone.

We try to provide an environment that is relaxing for the whole family to enjoy.

we do not offer respite stays or any level of care/support work.

Children remain the respectability of their parent/carer at all times.

Due to high demand in school holidays, access to the sensory playroom is allocated on a first booked basis and so may not be available at peak times for short stays.

Awards

We were the first glamping site to achieve the Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society, which we held 2017-2022. We have now moved to be part of the sunflower lanyards scheme for hidden disabilities. We are ready to recognise and assist any guest wearing the lanyard as required, we include a sunflower lanyard in our sunflower packs. We have also in 2023 achieved the Neurodiverse Friendly Award from the ADHD Foundation.

We are ambassadors for the Global Purple Angle dementia friendly scheme and have received the 'All Welcome' tourism training. In 2019 we joined the 'Ask for Clive' movement to stand against intolerance and provide a safe space for the LGBTQ community.

We have been awarded Gold in Devon tourism awards twice and we tied with Stonehenge for Bronze in the South West regional tourism awards for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism.

Family Fund

We are now working with Spectrum Holidays to offer an autism friendly service. If you book a holiday with us, through them you will have access to their sensory box in your accommodation during your stay and pre-arrival countdown calendar. They also facilitate the use of family fund vouchers.

A Family Business

We are a small independent, family run business, our prices are not subsidised and we ask that our accommodation is treated with respect and accidental breakages reported to us before you leave, so we have time to repair, remove or replace before the next guests arrive. We reserve the right to remove items and restrict access to facilities and areas, at anytime - without notice, where we feel there is danger of breakage or harm.

Perfect place for us, our Autistic son loved it and was very relaxed here. Lodges are lovely and well furnished shower amazing. Plenty of outdoor space to run around completely enclosed and safe. Lovely owners very understanding, will definitely return.

What a fab time we had!!! My son has severe autism and I'd wanted to take him camping for so long but never thought he'd be safe! This place was amazing, the owners have thought of every aspect to entertain, calm and keep a child with special needs safe! I was also in love with the beauty of the place! So much hard work has gone into to make you feel like you're in a home from home 😍

We stayed in Fox safari lodge with a bell tent next to it. The lodge is a high standard, clean, and well equipped. The bell tent was a great addition as a second space. Our dog also enjoyed her stay, including the exercise space at the side of the lodge.

All 5 of us had a good time and the grandparents also enjoyed their visit and one night stay.

It was a relief to discover Leafy Fields online - our eldest son has only just been diagnosed so we are only just finding out about autism friendly places. It was great to be somewhere we could all relax. When our son was hyperactive or approaching a meltdown we didn’t feel judged at all and it was great to have various areas to use. We enjoyed evening campfires and barbecue in a safe environment and the kids loved seeing the bats.

Here are some comments from the kids:

11 year old child with ASD and ADHD. “Very good. Swing ball was a great touch, and the bell tent was very good.”

8 year old neurotypical child: “I liked the bell tent and also how there weren’t many people there. I really liked the horses.”

6 year old child awaiting assessment: “it was good!” He also really enjoyed grooming the miniature horses / ponies and using the sensory room. The colour change shower head was brilliant for him.
